Perthshire
and Kinross
Alexander
Buchan, LL.D. was born in Kinnesswood in
1829, was a schoolmaster for twelve years, then was for
fortv-seven years Secretary of the Meteorological Society in
Scotland. It is to his researches and discoveries that we owe
much of the knowledge we now possess of the vagaries of our
climate, so much so that we have come to call the periodical
spells of cold weather we experience ‘‘BuchanSpells.‘‘
