Bachelor's Club Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland
Bachelors' Club. A debating club founded on the 11th of November 1780 by Robert Burns and a group of friends in the village of Tarbolton.
Burns was elected its first chairman and among the subjects debated were questions involving love, friendship and liberty. The club, which was never to exceed a membership of 16, continued for several years after Burns's death and its meeting-place has been preserved as a museum.
