Burns Cottage
The birthplace of Robert Burns in Alloway, Ayrshire, Scotland. The poet spent
the first seven years of his life there before moving to the farm of Mount Oliphant. In
1781 the cottage was bought by the Incorporation of Shoemakers at Ayr who sublet it to a
publican. The Alloway Burns Monument Trustees bought it in 1881 and restored it to its
original proportions. It is now a museum of Burns's life and work.
