Kirkcudbright Golf Breaks. Kirkcudbright Golf Club - A challenging parkland course that contains a lot of variety. The undulating terrain provides some gentle slopes to climb but you are rewarded with magnificent panoramic views of the Dee Estuary and the surrounding countryside. Southerness Golf Breaks. Southerness Golf Course was designed by McKenzie Ross, and built in 1947. This is a true championship links course, measuring 6,566 yards from the white tees and 6,106 from the yellow tees. The course is situated on the Solway coast giving panoramic views of the Solway Firth, the Cumbrian Lake District to the south, and the Galloway Hills to the west. McKenzie Ross's brilliant design has been complemented by the excellent condition it is kept in, and this has been recognised by "Golf Monthly", who have included Southerness in their list of top 100 courses in Britain and Ireland each year since 1990. 18 holes.
