An Audience with a Lizard Lady & Backstage at the Pussy-kat Klub 08 November 2003
Birnam Institute Birnam 8pm Two short plays by Gowan Calder, presented by Occasional Theatre Company. Morag Kerr was once the famous Lizard Lady - the Human Cameleon. She tells us of her colourful and often hilarious past: from lowly beginnings in Bennets Circus to the highlife in Vegas. But life has not always been easy for Morag and she also reveals the underlying tragedy that led to the discovery of her extraordinary gift. Backstage at the Pussy-kat Klub follows the journey of cabaret star Danny, from a tenement in Glasgow to the notorious drag clubs of Berlin. It also tells the story of Danny's 'grandmother' Lillian, from the Nazi concentration camps - via a startling change of identity - to the dance halls of Glasgow, challenging society's need to stereotype and label along the way.
