Why
do it ?
Whitewater
rafting is undoubtedly one of our most popular and most social
adrenalin sports. Rafting is not just about punting clients
down the river - it is a way of life for Nae
Limits
! All year round you will catch us out and about, making the
most of the constantly changing rapids and exhilarating stretches
of Whitewater here in Perthshire.
Whitewater
rafting takes the form of a large inflatable craft specially
constructed to carry up to 8 adrenalin-seeking participants,
down rivers of varying difficulty - from the tame to the wildly
dangerous. Each boat is expertly guided by one of our Nae Limits
instructors who is familiar with the river and it's obstacles.
On your journey you will be encouraged to work together as a
team to bump and glide your way along the rivers natural course,
whilst enjoying all the wild and wacky rapids for which the
Scottish rivers are famous.
Where
do I do it?
Due to the
high level of expertise and experience that our guides have
- we are able to swap venue depending on river levels and conditions.
At certain times of the year, different rivers present different
rafting challenges. The rivers we paddle vary in grade - all
we ask is that you let us know of any previous whitewater rafting
experience beforehand in order for us to tailor your trip. The
rivers we paddle include:
River Tay
River Tummel
River Braan
River Orchy
River Ericht
….most
of which are located within 15 minutes of our centre in Dunkeld
and vary in grade from 2-5.
How
long does it last?
A normal
raft trip lasts half a day. On your arrival you will be issued
with ALL the necessary specialist equipment which includes a
wetsuit, wetsuit jacket, buoyancy aid, helmet, gloves, boots
and socks. You will then be taken to the put in point and given
a full safety brief before your river trip begins. Once you've
survived the rapids we take you back to our centre where you
will de-kit and no doubt pop over to one of the welcoming hostelries
for a drink and recount your tales of the day.
Anything
else?
Whitewater
rafting provides a great half day activity and is ideally suited
to mutli-activity days where you may wish to pursue 2 activities
during your visit to us.
Please note
that to raft the River Braan and Orchy we do suggest putting
aside at least 6 hours, this reflects the length and technical
difficulty of the river.
