Eachann Bacach - 1650
Poet in the service of the Macleans of Duart. Very little is known about his life. Only seven of his poems have survived and all are concerned with praise of the Macleans, especially of the 16th chief, Sir Lachlann, whose death in April 1648 is lamented in 'A' chno Shamhana' ('The Hallowe'en nut'), and his son, Sir Eachann, who was killed at the Battle of Inverkeithing in 1651.
