Fin-folk
The
Fin-Men and Fin-Wives whose offspring were the mermaids and
mermen who were all bent on securing human spouses. Mermaids
would lure young men to their city of Finfolkaheem, beneath
the sea. The old folk told of the summer home of the Fin-folk
at Eynhallow, Orkney’s sacred isle which was said to vanish
at certain times. Fin-folk could only be got rid of by throwing
a silver coin into the sea.
