Flora MacDonald Funeral
When Flora MacDonald died in Kingsburgh in 1790, her funeral was the largest ever seen in Skye. When the bearers of the coffin came to a swollen stream, they hesitated. One of the mourners cried out "Is that the courage shown
by her whom you are carrying?"
The bearers plunged into the torrent.
