Fortingall
Fortingall
village is located in Perthshire, a few miles west of Aberfeldy.
According to an unlikely legend the father of Pontius Pilate
was a Roman officer on a mission here, and so this became the
birthplace of his famous son. There is a very ancient yew tree
in the churchyard. The village was rebuilt from 1889 in English
arts and crafts style, designed by James Marjoribanks MacLaren
for Sir Donald Currie of the Union Castle shipping line.
