Harry Lauder

Harry Lauder
(1870—1950)

Entertainer

Lauder’s bekilted, singing, Scotch caricature was popular inside Scotland as well as outside, bringing him phenomenal success worldwide. His success was based on talent and hard work, and he wrote some of the most famous Scots songs, including Stop Yer Ticklin’, Jock, Roamin’ in the Gloamin’ and I Love a Lassie (for his wife). His caricature image is so strong that he is still one of the most famous of Scottish entertainers.
