Armour
Jean
Armour (1761—1834) was stonemason’s daughter, born
in Mauchline, Ayrshire, whom Robert Burns met and fell in love
with in 1784. Jean’s father was against their marriage
and she had 2 sets of twins, three of whom died, by Burns before
their marriage, which was regularised by the Kirk Session in
Mauchline in August 1788. She had 4 more children after their
marriage,
one of whom was born after Burns’s death. She also took
in Burns’s daughter by the Dumfries barmaid, Anna Park.
