First
World War
Mr.
McKenzie continued his ministry until 1912 and was succeeded
by William Alexander Gillies, a native of Skye, whose ministry
was to span thirty-seven years. During that time great changes
took place in the Parish.
The
First World War hastened the depopulation. Many went to war
and did not return. The Parish war memorial bears the names
of no less than 32 men.
