Monimail

Monimail Tower, Fife, Scotland. Monimail Tower is all that remains of a Palace built by Bishop Lamberton in the early fourteenth century. The Tower was added to the Palace by Cardinal Beaton, although the upper part has a later date of 1578. The Palace was ransacked at the Reformation and the property passed to the Balfour family. One of the last occupants was Archbishop Hamilton who was hanged for his complicity in the murders of Lord Darnley, and of the Earl of Moray in 1570.

Monimail Parish Church, Fife, Scotland. Monimail lies on the northern edge of the Howe of Fife on a minor road between the villages of Collessie and Letham. Monimail Parish Church has a four-stage Gothic tower.
