Old Ardrossan. A spectacular accident involving a lorry with an 85 ton load that crashed through the Parkhouse Road railway bridge (fortunately no one was hurt), a huge cargo ship aground on the Inches, and a raging inferno at Christie's sleeper works are some of the more dramatic events of Ardrossan's past that are featured in this book. More familiar but equally interesting are pictures of Brennen's Dairy, a local A1 bus, Charles Murchie's grocer's van and local football and rugby teams (our own Bob McSherry, co-author of this book, appears in one of the latter photos!). The station, docks, pier, and some famous vessels connected with the town are included too.
