Old Brechin

Old Brechin

Old Brechin Old Brechin. Brechin was once famous for its markets, and this book includes pictures of the Muckle Market in the High Street, plus gatherings at St Ninian's Square and Trinity Muir. It is brimming with social history, with pictures of children gathered for a photograph in Church Street following the big snowstorm of 1906, a shot of a First World War tank on fund-raising duties in St Ninian's Square, and Brechin councillors enjoying their annual summer picnic by the Mooran Water. Snowbound steam trains, the interior of Dakers', Smart's and Duke's weaving factories, and floods in River Street, are among some of the other images featured.
