Old Maybole. This book has a wistful feel to it as it chronicles a period when the town's shoe factories employed 1500 and sold a million pairs of shoes and boots a year. Also included are the villages of Culroy, Dunure (one of my own favourite places), Croy Shore, Maidens, Straiton, Crosshill, Kirkmichael and Turnberry.
