Old Stevenston. Amazing pictures of Stevenston Cross when a burn ran through it and it was crossed by several bridges contrast with later views showing the modern street, with the burn piped underground. There's a centenary line-up of the 1st Stevenston Boys Brigade from 1983, a 1956 class from the Higher Grade School, and the Recreation Club rugby team of 1946. Several pictures illustrate the history of the Auchenharvie Colliery, and also Nobel's explosives factory, plus there's a double-page spread of ICI's short-lived Ardeer Nylon Works, which closed in 1981.
