Canyoning

Canyoning from our adventure centre in Perthshire

Why do it ?

Canyoning is a relatively new sport to Scotland, but one that is rapidly growing in popularity. We currently use 2 canyoning sites, Craighall and Calvine. Canyoning is hard to describe, however the descent of a 2 mile stretch of Whitewater through a 350ft gorge, seems to encapsulate a wee bit of what the activity involves.

Canyoning......"An utterly amazing one-off experience
but now an experience I am dying to repeat"

Excusive to Nae Limits is Craighall Gorge, a spectacular canyon through which the River Ericht makes it's natural course. From entering the River, your Canyoning journey involves adrenalin pumping swimming through rapids, cliff jumps, rock scrambling and navigating huge waterfalls. The scenery can only be described as awesome and the experience quite unique. If you are looking for a new challenge - then this tops them all !

Our Calvine canyon is suited to large groups and is not as physically challenging. However the natural rock slides, cliff jumps, waterfalls and flumes make this a great site for a group activity. If you have not visited us before we would suggest Calvine.

When can I do it ?

Obviously we appreciate that the water can be cold - and for this reason we wait until May in order to start Canyonning. The activity then runs until the end of September depending on water levels.

Anything else?

Canyonning does not require you to be hugely fit however as it is a full half day activity - a certain level of fitness is required i.e the ability to walk up a small hill without dying ! Maximum group numbers are 16.

Price?

From £40pp

Canyoning works well with a land activity if you are looking for multi-activity day ideas.
