Photography of Greece

Greece Through the SeasonsGreece Through the Seasons. Greece Through the Seasons. Picture Greece, blue and white sun-baked islands. So much of that picture is captured on a single postcard - a white chapel on a clear blue sky. What about looking at Greece in other colours and through different eyes? Greece protected from mass-tourism? Greece off the beaten track? Greece Through the Seasons shows us the country in a different light, in which we discover many unsuspected treasures. On the Pelion Mountain, Autumn transforms the landscape into an explosion of colour: yellow, brown and mahogany invade the forest right down to the sea. In the Peloponnese, the snowy tops of the Cyllene Mountains are reflected in the Stymphale lake. Armogos island, almost desert like in the summer, becomes blue thistles, poppies and multicoloured euphorbias.Due to its crumbling land, Greece' diversity is staggering. Beyond its wide-open coasts, the country is mostly mountains. These mountains cover two thirds of a landscape, with towering cliffs, deep ravines, raging rivers and countless islands. As the seasons go by, these landscapes never cease to transform themselves."Greece Through the Seasons" imortalises these everchanging seasons into a fantastic selection of photographs. The aim of the book is to surprise, to amaze and to make you dream over 200 photographs. This trip is based on the experience of the two reporters, who have been living on the Egine Island since 2004 and often incorporate stories into their captions.

The Other GreeceThe Other Greece. The Other Greece. This album contains 250 photographs of 180 areas throughout Greece taken by 24 different photographers. The album aims to initiate us into the variety and uniqueness of the Greek landscape. The journey starts from Evros and the Prespa Lakes and continues on to Central Greece, the Aegean, the Ionian Islands and the Peloponnese to end in Crete. This is not a tourist guide, nor does it aspire to provide a full record of all the areas in Greece. It aims to rouse the reader's interest towards discovering those images and getting to know Greece. Text in English and Greek.

The Most Beautiful Villages of Greece and the Greek Islands (The Most Beautiful Villages) Tour Greece. The variety of village life in Greece and its islands springs from a multitude of histories and influences. Yet the villages are all, in their separate ways, an expression of Greekness, one of the most durable ideals in history. This book captures the most beautiful examples.

Greece: Land of Light. Greece, Land of Light. In the stark light of the Greek sun, colours become so pure and clear that they are almost audible. Greece is a legendary destinaation, and anyone who has once fallen under its spell dreams of returning again and again. Here is the marvellous record of an enchanting land. Interest in Greece will be at an all time high as the Olympics returns to Greece in summer 2004. Brukoff's briliant colour images and Gage's evocative words delineate the heart of Greece. Included are the great classical ruins, Byzantine monasteries, colourful fishing villages, and the ubiquitous cats, the vivid details that each traveller takes home as a memory. Gage's insightful essays on the turbulent history of Greece, its myths and beliefs, life in the villages and the age old wisdom and spirit of the Greek people, are a passionate tribute to an extraordinary country.
