Robert Wodrow (1679-1734) - Historian

He was librarian to the University of Glasgow, Scotland, and from 1703, after his ordination, he was minister of Eastwood near Glasgow. He is best known as an early historian and chronicler of the covenanters and their opposition in the reigns of Charles II and James II. Much of his work was done in the Faculty Of Advocates library in Edinburgh. His two-volume History of the Sufferings of the Church of Scotland from the Restoration to the Revolution (1721-2) earned the respect of later historians for its basis in the principal archives of the period.
