The
West Highlands
The area of Scotland from Lochaber to Durness is one of the
most spectacular and isolated in Scotland. It is a landscape
cut with great sea lochs and towering mountains. It is the heartland
of the Scottish clans and it was here that the Jacobite cause
lingered longest and with greatest force. As well as being a
barrier these mountains and lochs were also an artery across
Scotland. It was up the Great Glen that Columba travelled to
convert the Picts, it was through the passes that Montrose swept
to rout the Campbells at Inverlochy. It is a land rich in relics
and magnificent scenery.
Elements:
The Landscape of Scotland.
In a book filled with breathtaking images, Craig McMaster has
captured the essence of Scotland's wild landscape. From Rannoch
Moor and Glencoe to Ardnamurchan, Torridon, Glen Affric, Arran,
Iona and beyond, Craig explores towering mountains, secluded
coves, enigmatic stone circles, dramatic skies and hidden lakes.
The
Hebrideans
It consists of over 200 images taken by Gus over the last three
decades, including a number from his most recent photographic
essay on North and South Uist, as well as a completely new series
of portraits and interiors. Described by Michael Russell as
'the best modern photographer of the Western Isles', Wylie's
images capture the bleak beauty and remoteness of the islands.
With an introductory essay by broadcaster and writer Finlay
Macleod, a Lewisman whom Gus has known for many years and who
has accompanied him on many of his expeditions across the islands
The Hebrideans is a remarkable personal and intimate tribute
to a landscape and people with whom Wylie has a deep empathy,
and encapsulates with rare perception the unique character of
the Hebridean spirit. A BBC Scotland documentary will follow
Gus Wylies's work on this project.
The
Unknown Hebrides
Eileach an Naoimh, the Garbh Eileach, Dun Chonnuill, Luing,
Lismore, Scarba, Fladda, Belnahua, the Crowlins, South Ascrib,
Priest Island, Isle Martin, Soay, Shuna, Kerrera, Eilean Macaskin
Featuring two main groups of islands, the islands of the Firth
of Lorne and islands of Skye and Ullapool, The Unknown Hebrides
is a spectacular celebration of some of the most beautiful and
yet inaccessible of Scotlands island heritage. Not simply beautiful
in themselves these islands serve as spectacular vantage points
for the magnificent scenery around. From the great amphitheatre
of the Firth of Lorne to the grandeur of the Cuillins from Soay,
this book is a unique portrait of Scotlands forgotten islands.
It is also a poignant reminder of islands long abandoned by
man, and industry now long forgotten.
A
Sense of Belonging to Scotland Ewan McGregor says, The photographs
in this book will inspire the beautiful melancholia experienced
by Scots away from home all over the world. Sir
Cameron Mackintosh says, A ravishing book, with some of the
most beautiful shots of Scotland I have ever seen.

Scotland
from the Air The Scots are not alone in thinking Scotland
the most beautiful part of the British Isles, from the cosy,
domesticated Lowlands to the rugged Highlands and Islands, from
its vibrant and cosmopolitan cities to its great castles and
stately homes. Jason Hawkes' breathtaking photographs capture
from a unique angle the huge variety Scotland has to offer,
with dramatic views of landscape, moorland, forests and lakes,
as well as the glories of Edinburgh and Glasgow, and historic
sites like Traquair House, the standing stones of Callanish,
and Cawdor Castle. Scotland

Scotland:
The Wild Places.
This latest collection of panoramic photographs by award-winning
photographer Colin Prior celebrates the breathtaking scenery
of Scotland's wildland areas. It follows the longstanding success
of his earlier book Highland Wilderness. Whereas Highland Wilderness
focused on the issues involved in conserving the Highlands,
this time Prior presents a mature reflection on the space and
silence of those wild places, a salutory reminder to people
that even in today's world such places do exist. His remarkable
images encourage stewardship of the Highlands by inspiration
rather than rhetoric.

The
Most Beautiful Villages of Scotland.
A collection of lavish photographs celebrates some of Scotland's
most scenic glens and lochs, in a tribute that features such
subjects as the picturesque fishing village of Auchmithie, the
Edinburgh-surrounded community of Dean Village, and the island
port-village of Tobermory on Mull.
Scotland
from Above
Referred to as a creative tour de force, the latest book from
photographer Colin Baxter is truly a must-see. With more than
200 high-quality images helping to create a new perspective
and a unique vision of Scotland from above-from 100 feet to
over 12,000 feet above. This comprehensive overview of Scotland's
geography is broken into seven chapters with a general introduction
and a satellite view of Scotland using M-Sat true color imaging.
Hebridean
Light.
A unique collection of colour photographs of the Hebrides by
the celebrated photographer Gus Wylie. For his monochrome work,
Wylie has been acclaimed by author Michael Russell as 'The best
modern photographer of the Western Isles'. This collection is
a lyrical exploration of the possibilities that colour offers:
a sense of time, and place a feel of the unique atmosphere and
light that can only be found in the Hebrides; of the extraordinary
quality of translucent water upon the freshness of white unpolluted
sands. Wylie has built up the collection using pairs of images
on double page spreads: comparing, for example, the colours
of earth lichen and water in one shot with an image of a crofter
weaving tweed in Harris. The result is a magical, beautiful
collection acknowledges the incredible sensual pleasure of the
environment.
