Ardnamurchan

The most westerly point on the
Scottish mainland, on
which stands a lonely lighthouse, from where the views
extend northwards out to sea towards the islands of Muck,
Eigg and Ruin, and westwards to the islands of Coil
and Tiree. A road connects the lighthouse with Kilchoan. To
the north-east of the Point is Sanna Bay, with its white sands,
overlooked by Sanna Point. The name Ardnamurchan is also given
to the whole of the peninsula which stretches westwards to
the Point, and is bounded to the east by the sea lochs of
Loch Moidart and Loch Sunart. The last-named is traversed
on its northern shores by the road which links Ardnamurchan
with the head of the loch.
