Grantully Castle

Grandtully in Perthshire is a small village in Strath Tay, where a bridge over the river links the roads traversing the north and south shores. 2 miles South West off the Aberfeldy road, is Grandtullv castle, dating from 1560, with enlargements of 1626 and 1893. It is one of those castles which Scott may have had in mind when describing “Tullyveolan” in “Waverley.” A little to the south is the old Church of St. Mary, which is notable for its 17th century painted ceiling. In the background, beyond the river to the north, rises Farragon Hill, 2,559 ft., below which is Loch Derculich, from which flows the Derculich Burn to join the River Tay.
