Leuchars

Leuchars Church

Leuchars, in Fife, is famous for its Norman Church, one
of the finest of its period in the country, noted especially
for the chancel and apse, both interior and exterior being
richly carved. A 17th century, bell turret has been added to the structure above the apse. The two carved Earlshall stones (1584 and 1635) are of interest. To the east, on the borders of the lonely Tents Moor, with its forestry plantations, is the picturesque old mansion of Earlshall dating from 1546 to 1607, with beautiful gardens, the house having been well restored by Sir Robert Lorimer.
