Sir
William Bruce, who succeeded the Earl of Morton
in the ownership of Kinross Estate in 1675, was a very
distinguished Architect. It was to his designs that the
present Kinross House, the Palace of Holyrood House,
Hopetoun House and Moncreiff House were built.
