West
Yorks Walks: Calderdale and Bradford (West Yorks Walks)
Calderdale and Bradford are the westerly areas of West Yorkshire.
In the past these areas have been associated with the wool textile
industry and you would be forgiven for thinking that this is
still a predominantly industrial landscape. However, you would
be wrong for here can be found vast areas of rolling Pennine
moorland intersected by steep-sided secluded wooded valleys,
deans and cloughs. Scattered here and there are rugged stone
villages and outlying hill farms connected by fascinating packhorse
trails. The whole landscape seems held together by criss-crossing
dry stone walls which give the area rugged gritstone character.
These 26 walks explore the many delights, dramatic landscapes
and outstanding views around Todmorden, Sowerby and Hebden Bridge,
Haworth, Bingley and Ilkley. Interest abounds and will amaze
the discerning walker. The routes, ranging from 4 to 10 mile,
contain very detailed descriptions and maps. They keep you off
the more frequented routes and generally follow easy contours.
Bradford
City Memories
Pictorial history of Bradford City, 1903 to 1998 featuring many
previously unpublished and long-forgotten photographs and archive
memorabilia. No other book on Bradford City FC has ever included
so many archive images. A large volume of material was collected
for the book and it is hoped that further titles will be published
to feature the unused photographs.
Bradford
Corporation Tramways
This long-awaited volume from the pen of JS Stanley King completes
the trilogy, and in Stanley's inimitable and very readable style
covers the history of all the trams which operated over the
Corporation's tracks, from 1882-1950 - horse, steam and electric.
Fully illustrated, thoroughly researched and with extremely
comprehensive appendices this book is a must for everyone interested
in transport in Bradford.
