Drive
to North Scotland to Forss House near Thurso,
via Loch Ness, Inverness and Dornoch, stopping at points of
interest along the way.
Day
1:
Overnight at Forss
Country House. Forss House is a delightful 1810 country
home nestling in 20 acres of woodland, below a waterfall, on
the gently meandering River Forss. In truth there can be few
finer spots to linger in the big sky country; a place where
time always seems to be on your side. A 13 bedroom family owned
hotel Forss House is a comfortable haven that puts you instantly
at ease with a welcoming staff keen to look after you.
Day
2:
Ferry
to Stromness.
Overnight at Merkister
Hotel, Harray. Situated on the shore of Harray Loch, the
Merkister hotel stands in its own grounds in a wonderful location,
commanding impressive views of this famous loch and its surroundings.
The merkister has fourteen bedrooms, all but one are en suite.
All rooms have colour television, direct dial telephone, tea/coffee
making facilities and a host of extras. Visit choice of historic
sites throughout the day.
Day
3:
Overnight
at at Foveran
Hotel, St Ola. Foveran is a warm and inviting family-run
hotel and restaurant, offering accommodation on the Orkney Mainland,
an ideal base to further explore the splendour of Orkney. Only
three miles from Orkney's main town of Kirkwall,
on the A964, Foveran sits in an area of unspoilt countryside,
offering guests beautiful views over Scapa Flow. Visit choice
of historic sites throughout the day.
Day
4:
Return ferry to Scrabster. Drive South through Caithness
to Dornoch via Tongue and Lairg. Overnight at Dornoch
Castle Hotel. Steeped in Scottish history and fascinating
legends, the 15th century Dornoch Castle firmly stands its ground
opposite the inspiring 12th century Dornoch
Cathedral. Set in private and beautifully manicured gardens,
this Castle still bears an air of magnificence and grace.
Day
5: Drive South through Scotland to Edinburgh
or Glasgow and your point of departure from Scotland, or your
next location if you are continuing to Tour Scotland.
